Turbulent flow structure in experimental laboratory wind-generated gravity waves

► We present the turbulent structure in the water side of wind generated waves. ► The level of turbulence is enhanced beneath the interface due to micro-breaking. ► The integral turbulent scale underestimates the degree of disturbance at the free surface.
