A new criterion and probabilistic approach to the performance assessment of coastal facilities in relation to their adaptation to global climate change

► We propose a new index for performance assessment of the coastal facilities. ► A probabilistic approach is adopted to assess the performance level of facilities. ► The index is quite beneficial for an adaptation strategy against global warming. ► More accurate assessment of the benefits will be achieved by applying this concept. ► The proposed approach can be applied for performance deterioration.
