Biodiesel production from raw castor oil

► Preliminary results on castor plant adaptability in Northern Portugal are presented. ► Extraction of oil from seeds by mechanical and chemical methods is evaluated. ► New information regarding biodiesel production from raw castor oil is provided. ► Experimental planning and response surface methodology are used. ► Predictive models are obtained and best reaction conditions to produce biodiesel from raw oil are selected.
