Molten carbonate fuel cell: Towards negative emissions in wastewater treatment CHP plants

This paper provides a techno-economical comparison between conventional CHP technologies (reciprocating engines and gas turbines) and innovative solutions comprising MCFCs fed with biogas produced in wastewater plants. The thermodynamic and environmental analyses are focused on the CHP facility. An economic evaluation of the proposed solutions is done using the Monte Carlo method in order to identify the most cost-effective system, keeping into account uncertainties related to the key parameters of the scenario.
