Chemical-looping combustion of solid fuels - Design and operation of a 100Â kW unit with bituminous coal

► Stable operation in a solid fuel chemical-looping combustor with unique design. ► Very high gas conversion and full CO2 capture were achieved. ► Steam gasification in the carbon stripper reduced the carbon slip significantly. ► 10-20% of the fuel-N was oxidised to NO. ► The fuel reactor bed inventory controls the gas conversion.
