Optimised deployment of a European CO2 transport network

► We present a model to determine the optimal EU-wide CO2 transport network for 2015-2050. ► The computation is made tractable through three innovations compared to existing work. ► We use k-means clustering, Delaunay triangulation, and a novel pipeline costing model. ► Application of the model shows that the EU CO2 pipeline network could reach 17,000 km. ► International coordination seems crucial for the development of an optimised network.
