Development of a zero emission integrated system for co-production of electricity and methanol through renewable hydrogen and CO2 capture

► A zero-emission integrated system is developed for co-production of electricity and methanol. ► A method of CO2 capture is investigated based on utilization of renewable energy to produce methanol and electricity. ► The captured CO2 from Matiant power plant is reacted by renewable hydrogen to produce methanol. ► The major result of this work is eliminating the CO2 emission as well as 4% increase in thermal efficiency of power plant. ► In addition, methanol production cost is lower than that of similar systems.
