Sustainability reporting among mining corporations: a constructive critique of the GRI approach

► GRI-based sustainability reporting has become the norm among mining corporations. ► The soundness of GRI-based reports has been increasingly questioned. ► We analyze how the GRI approach complies with the BellagioSTAMP principles. ► Findings indicate critical limitations in the GRI approach. ► A number of specific reporting framework changes are suggested.
