Effects of experimental variables on conversion of cockle shell to calcium oxide using thermal gravimetric analysis

► Utilization of waste cockle shells as a new source for CaO synthesis. ► XRD and XRF analysis shown that cockle shell contains aragonite. ► Aragonite is a source of CaCO3 that has the potential to be converted to CaO. ► Particle size, heating rate and temperature influence the calcinations process. ► Calcium oxide is a potential source to store CO2.
