► Myriocin impairs the uptake of transferrin and LDL in mammalian cells at 37 °C. ► Transferrin uptake inhibition is released by sphingoid base, PMA and okadaic acid. ► Myriocin effects not only sphingolipids but also glycerophospholipids. ► Myriocin alters phosphatidylcholine species in direction to sphingomyelin.
