Suspected leukemia oncoproteins CREB1 and LYL1 regulate Op18/STMN1 expression

► AML microarrays show co-regulation of Op18/Stmn1 by Creb1/Lyl1 but not Tal1/p53.. ► Creb1-Lyl1 interact on the Op18/Stmn1 promoter. ► Adjacent Ebox and Cre sites are required in the minimal Op18/Stmn1 promoter. ► Cre site or Creb1 mutations abrogate Op18/Stmn1 regulation by Lyl1. ► shRNA-mediated Creb1 or Lyl1 knockdown downregulate Op18/Stmn1 expression.
