Methods for isolation of cell-free plasma DNA strongly affect DNA yield

► Free-circulating nucleic acids become increasingly important. ► There is so far no standardized method for DNA isolation from plasma. ► We applied 3 different methods for DNA isolation from plasma in 2 different laboratories. ► Different yields are due to the methods used and not the isolation site.
