Higher frequency of paraoxonase gene polymorphism and cardiovascular impairment among Brazilian Fabry Disease patients

► A higher frequency of Gln192Arg was observed among the Brazilian FD patients in comparison to control subjects. ► Gln192Arg is present in at least 50% of the genotypes among the three families of patients analyzed. ► Cardiovascular impairment in FD patients varied according to the presence of the Gln192Arg allele.
