Production and characterization of an extracellular polysaccharide from Streptomyces violaceus MM72

- Extracellular Polysaccharide (EPS) was obtained from Streptomyces violaceus MM72.
- We optimized the medium composition for EPS production.
- The molecular weight was estimated as 8.96 × 105 Da.
- EPS possessed a good antioxidant activity.
- The EPS can be a new source of natural antioxidants.
