Morphological and structural investigation of wool-derived keratin nanofibres crosslinked by thermal treatment

► Keratin extracted from wool has been transformed into nanofibre mats by electrospinning. ► The keratin nanofibre mats have been crosslinked by a thermal treatment. ► The thermally crosslinked keratin nanofibre mats are water insoluble. ► The water insoluble keratin nanofibre mats can find interesting applications as adsorbent/filter for wastewater treatment or scaffolds for tissue engineering.
