The effect of bromfenvinphos, its impurities and chlorfenvinphos on acetylcholinesterase activity

► Toxicity of bromfenvinphos (BFVF), its impurities and chlorfenvinphos to erythrocyte acetylcholinesterase (AChE) was studied. ► The organophosphorus compounds examined in low concentrations induced competitive inhibition of AChE. ► Higher concentrations of the compounds studied provoked mixed type of AChE inhibition. ► Chlorfenvinphos and dibromo-bromfenvinphos exhibited stronger AChE inhibition than BFVF. ► Antiesterase activities correspond with the number of Br atoms at carbon of vinyl group.
