Properties of a new protein film from bitter vetch (Vicia ervilia) and effect of CaCl2 on its hydrophobicity

► Bitter vetch seed protein concentrate (BPC) with up to 80% protein has good potential for preparation of protein-based edible film. ► Resulting film is relatively flexible and strong to be handled. ► CaCl2 could improve its hydrophobicity significantly.
