Stimulatory effect of the sulfated polysaccharide ascophyllan on the respiratory burst in RAW264.7 macrophages

► We prepare sulfated polysaccharide ascophyllan from brown alga Ascophyllum nodosum. ► Ascophyllan is capable of inducing ROS generation in RAW264.7 cells through the activation of NADPH oxidase. ► Ascophyllan induces the respiratory burst activation in RAW264.7 cells via JNK signaling pathway.
