Nitric oxide as a mediator of fructose 1,6-bisphosphate protection in galactosamine-induced hepatotoxicity in rats

► We used the model of hepatotoxicity (GalN) in rats to test the protective effect of F1,6BP. ► The administration of F1,6BP abolished the liver injury in rats treated with d-GalN. ► We tested the effect of l-Name (NOS inhibitor) in the protection induced by F1,6BP. ► l-NAME reversed the protection induced by F1,6BP en rats treated with d-GalN. ► F1,6BP induced an increase in NO and the redox ratio (GSH/GSSG) in liver.
