A mutant of the Arabidopsis thaliana TOC159 gene accumulates reduced levels of linolenic acid and monogalactosyldiacylglycerol

Genes that encode MGD1 and stearoyl-ACP desaturases were down-regulated in the ppi2 mutant, and fad5 gene was up-regulated. The mutant accumulated decreased levels of MGDG, a major thylakoid lipid.
