Linking microarray data to QTLs highlights new genes related to Al tolerance in maize

► We integrated microarrays from maize roots grown in acid soil and Al tolerance QTLs. ► Genes possibly involved with acid soil tolerance were located inside maize QTLs. ► An RNA binding protein was inside QTL1, protease inhibitor in QTL2 and cyclins in QTL4. ► A replication factor and a xyloglucan endotransglycosylase were inside Alm1. ► This approach facilitates gene selection for further investigation of AI tolerance.
