Cardiovascular and eletrocardiographic parameters after tonin administration in Wistar rats

► Tonin is able to generate the pressor octapeptide Ang II in the isolated rat heart. ► Tonin increased blood pressure and heart rate and decreased heart rate variability. ► Tonin induced increase in arterial coronary pressure and negative inotropic effects. ► The cardiovascular responses induced by tonin were completely blocked by candesartan.
