Effects of orexins A and B on expression of orexin receptors and progesterone release in luteal and granulosa ovarian cells

► We studied the effects of orexins on the expression of their receptors in ovary. ► Effects on progesterone secretion were also measured. ► A selective presence and function of both orexinergic receptors in luteal and granulosa cells is described. ► The orexinergic system may have a functional role in the ovary.
