Neuroendocrine regulatory peptide-1 and neuroendocrine regulatory peptide-2 influence differentially feeding and penile erection in male rats: Sites of action in the brain

► VGF protein is the precursor of numerous bioactive peptides. ► NERP-1 and NERP-2 are two recently discovered VGF derived peptides. ► These peptides seem to be involved in the control of feeding and water adsumption. ► NERP-2, but not NERP-1, induces feeding by acting into the lateral hypothalamus. ► NERP-1, but not NERP-2, induces penile erection by acting in the arcuate nucleus.
