► Nitric oxide (NO) is produced in the islets of Langerhans. ► NO inhibits insulin secretion. ► High glucose concentrations and fasting induce islet iNOS activity. ► Insulin secretagogues not metabolized through glycolysis, do not affect NOS activity.
