Cholecystokinin-producing (I) cells of intestinal mucosa in dexamethasone-treated rats

► Diabetes condition affects function and morphology of the gut endocrine cells. ► Duodenal (I) cells secrete a neuropeptide and gut hormone cholecystokinin (CCK). ► In rats, dexamethasone treatment induced diabetes similar to human diabetes type 2. ► Changes of the I-cells suggest their compensatory efforts in diabetic condition.
