Oral activity of FMRFamide-related peptides on the pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum (Hemiptera: Aphididae) and degradation by enzymes from the aphid gut

► FMRFamide-related peptides were tested for oral activity against a pest aphid species. ► Aphid myosuppressin and leucomyosuppressin had significant dose-dependent effects. ► Aphid myosuppressin killed 100% of aphids within 10 days. ► Aphid myosuppressin and leucomyosuppressin were degraded by enzymes in the aphid gut. ► Potential use of myosuppressins in a strategy to control aphid pests.
