Central NPY-Y5 receptors activation plays a major role in fasting-induced pituitary-thyroid axis suppression in adult rat

► Pharmacological blockade of central Y-5 receptors stimulated thyroid axis during fasting. ► In fed rats, pharmacological blockade of central Y-5 receptors 15 decreased food intake and body weight. ► Chronic blockade of central Y5 receptor did not alter TSH and free T4 of fed rats.
