Slower gastric emptying in high-fat diet induced obese rats is associated with attenuated plasma ghrelin and elevated plasma leptin and cholecystokinin concentrations

► The diet induced obese rat was used to assess the relationships between gastrointestinal motility and gut hormones. ► The obese rats had slower gastric emptying, higher leptin and CCK, and lower ghrelin levels compared with lean rats. ► Gastric emptying positively related to plasma ghrelin level and inversely related to CCK and leptin levels.
