Biological variation of anti-αGal-antibodies studied by a novel Time-Resolved ImmunoFluorometric Assay

► A TRIFMA was developed for quantification of human anti-αGal antibodies. ► Anti-αGal concentrations in plasma of healthy adults were investigated. ► Concentrations varied more than 400-fold between individuals. ► Concentrations varied less than 30 % over time in the individual. ► Anti-αGal Ig may reflect the ability to raise antibodies to carbohydrate antigens.
