چکیده انگلیسی
Sugar intakes of the French population (children and adults) have been studied from data collected in the representative INCA2 survey, which have been reprocessed to evaluate intakes of added and free sugars. In adults, total and free sugars represent respectively 16.4% and 9.5% of energy intake. In children and adolescents, total sugars contribute to more than 19% of energy intake, and free sugars to more than 13%, when WHO recommends that the latest do not exceed 10% of energy intake. Socio-economic characteristics appear linked to sugars intake only in children; those being in the highest socio-economic groups consuming more total sugars, but not more free sugars. Sweet products (confectionery, biscuits and pastries, etc.) and beverages are the main contributors to total sugars intakes (approx. 50%) and free sugars (approx. 70%). Fruits and dairy products contribute more to total sugars intake (according to age, from 12 to 23% for fruits and vegetables and from 12 to 22% for dairy products) than to free sugars (from 2 to 5% for fruits and vegetables and from 6 to 12% for dairy products). The outcomes of such an analysis, which should be reproduced on more recent data, could be helpful when designing Public Health policies aiming at decreasing free sugars intakes, especially in children.
