Diabetischer Fuss - eine Frage der Nerven?

The diabetic foot is today the most frequent cause of non-traumatic amputation of the lower extremity and one of the main reasons for hospitalization in patients with diabetes mellitus. The diabetic foot consists of damage to the nerves, vessels and bony structures. This is the reason why it is called neuro-osteoarthropathy, or Charcot foot in its terminal form. In this study, the focus is on the neurologic component of the disease, and particularly the Large Fibre Neuropathy (LFN) and the Small Fibre Neuropathy (SFN), their consequences and therapeutic options.
