Later to the publication of the last guides, the results of the SPRINT study have been known. SPRINT analyzes the differences in cardiovascular morbidity and mortality of different systolic blood pressure goals. The above mentioned study shows that a reduction to 121 mmHg in SBP is better than a SBP < 140 mmHg. Nevertheless, this study has included a low number of diabetic patients and a limited number of patients with cardiovascular disease, therefore, probably, the results are not applicable than to a limited number of hypertensive patients. In this article we analyze some of the available information with regard to this interesting aspect.
