Triticeous cartilage: Prevalence on panoramic radiographs and diagnostic criteria

Calcified triticeous cartilage was more prevalent in females. The prevalence was not age dependent. Shape, outline, and location of the triticeous cartilage can help in differentiating it from a carotid atheroma.
