Creating a molecular microbiology laboratory

Molecular methods have changed the practice of clinical microbiology and infectious disease. The technology has created bothnew challenges in laboratory practice and new opportunities for laboratories to impact patient care. This article describes some of the issues that should be considered as laboratories create new molecular diagnostics sections or expand their capabilities in this area.
