This contribution initially discusses the development of T-cells and the recognition of antigen; processing and presentation of antigen; and professional antigen-presenting cells. It then focuses on the activation and effector function of CD8+ and CD+ T-cells; and B-cells and the production of antibody. It finishes with a brief look at the concept of immunological memory.
