Biosynthesis of benzofuran derivatives in root cultures of Tagetes patula via phenylalanine and 1-deoxy-d-xylulose 5-phosphate

Tagetes patula root cultures were supplied with [U-13C6]glucose or [1-13C1]glucose. The building blocks of isoeuparin and (−)-4-hydroxytremetone were determined by retrobiosynthetic NMR analysis.
