Bioética y práctica clínica: propuesta de una guía para la toma de decisiones de limitación del esfuerzo terapéutico

This paper shows some of the ethical questions about withholding or withdrawing life-sustaining treatments in clinical settings. Patients who are autonomous can easily make such this decisions based on his priorities. The conflicts arise when this is not the case. If not exist an advanced directives document, who should decide? The author focuses specially on the role of the physician, the patient's relatives and the Ethics Committee of the Hospital in order to try to solve, in a ethically manner, this kind of conflicts.
