The Sudbury Neutrino Observatory: Comparison of Phases

The Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) detects 8B solar neutrinos via charged-current (CC) and neutral-current (NC) neutrino-deuteron reactions, as well as the elastic scattering of neutrinos on electrons. The SNO experiment was designed to run in three phases. In each phase, the method for detecting the free neutron produced by NC reactions is different. This contribution describes and compares the different phases of the SNO experiment and reviews the published results from the first two phases.
