Apoptosis and proliferation of oligodendrocyte progenitor cells in the irradiated rodent spinal cord

Conclusions: Oligodendroglial cells undergo early apoptosis and OPC undergo early proliferation after ionizing radiation. However, apoptosis is not likely to be the trigger for early proliferation of OPC in the irradiated central nervous system.
