Andrology as the medical speciality to focus medical training on men's health?

The debate article continues the discussion on the nature of andrology as a discipline. Background is provided on the origin of the term and the current status of andrology in North America and Europe and delineates some of the current problems in targeting clinical training programs focused on male reproductive health. As a short-term solution to these problems, a formal clinical training program focused on male infertility and reproductive health is advised. In the long-term, there is an opportunity to expand the currently held definition of andrology to encompass broad aspects of men's health and to formalize it as a board-recognized clinical discipline.
