Lipase/esterase-catalyzed synthesis of aliphatic polyesters via polycondensation: A review

► Lipase/esterase-catalyzed polycondensation reaction was systematically reviewed. ► Two types of reaction, namely esterification and transesterification polycondensation, were introduced. ► The concurrent combination of ring-opening polymerization and polycondensation was also discussed. ► Lipase/esterase-catalyzed polycondensation provides a powerful tool for realizing the green and sustainable polymer synthesis.
