Pesticide residue removal from vegetables by ozonation

► A machine was developed to remove pesticide residues from vegetables using ozone. ► This cleaner consists mainly of a chamber, O3 generator, and a recirculation pump. ► Permethrin, chlorfluazuron, and chlorothalonil were pesticides used in this study. ► Cleaning for 15 min with pump recirculation removed 51-53% of the pesticides. ► Removal efficiencies increased to 75-77% when ozonation combined with circulation.
