Determination of the mechanical properties of maize grains and olives required for use in DEM simulations

► Different material properties required in DEM simulations have been determined. ► Its experimental determination is difficult and there is very little information. ► Three different materials, glass beads, maize grains and olives, were considered. ► The apparatuses and experimental procedures were described. ► The difficulties arising with each of them were also discussed and described.
