Effect of the operating variables on the extraction and recovery of aroma compounds in an osmotic distillation process coupled to a vacuum membrane distillation system

► A concentration process coupled to the recovery of aroma compounds is proposed. ► Simultaneous osmotic distillation (OD) and vacuum membrane distillation (VMD). ► Two hollow fiber contactors perform simultaneous OD and VMD processes. ► It is aimed to overcome loss of aroma compounds problem during the OD process. ► Average of 75% recovery in aroma compounds is achieved.
