Production of lipases by solid state fermentation using vegetable oil-refining wastes

► A novel system for the production of lipases from industrial wastes using SSF has been studied under pilot-scale conditions. ► The extraction of lipases was optimized using an experimental design technique. ► Fermented solid wastes presented an extremely high lipolytic activity. ► Extracted lipases were systematically studied using experimental design techniques. ► They showed interesting properties such as high thermostability.
