Microbial fuel cell based biosensor for in situ monitoring of anaerobic digestion process

► A microbial fuel cell (MFC) based biosensor was developed using electrochemical active biofilm for on-line monitoring of anaerobic digestion. ► The MFC biosensor exhibited comparable results with other routine analysis for long term operation under different conditions. ► The MFC biosensor offers a new approach for better understanding of the dynamic variation during anaerobic fermentation processes.
