Enhancing the combustible properties of bamboo by torrefaction

► Bamboo is a promising energy crop for the future and make it an attractive option to replace native or reforested wood. ► Torrefaction is one of the most efficient means to recover energy from biomass. ► Results showed that FTIR could be used as a relevant parameter to synthesize the combined effects of temperature and duration. ► The characteristics of the torrefied bamboo began to resemble those of low rank coals.
