Properties of oil and char derived from slow pyrolysis of Tetraselmis chui

► The pyrolytic oil produced from slow pyrolysis of T. chui has a HHV of 28 MJ/kg. ► The pyrolytic oil fraction exhibits a wide variety of potentially valuable molecules. ► T. chui biochar has a HHV of 14.5 MJ/kg. ► The biochar registers high CEC, N and Na+ levels and exhibits a low C:N ratio. ► T. chui biochar can sequester ∼9%/wt of the C in the original microalgae feedstock.
