Utilization of sugarcane bagasse for bioethanol production: Sono-assisted acid hydrolysis approach

► Sono-assisted alkaline pretreatment of sugarcane bagasse was carried out for the effective removal of lignin. ► Acid hydrolysis of polysaccharides was intensified with ultrasound. ► The hydrolysate obtained was fermented to explain the suitability of sono-assisted acid hydrolysis.
